My contribution to the Monster Zucchini Club

So it seems my garden, in particular my zucchini plant, caught wind of the fact that other zucchini plants out there in the big wide world (eg Fiona's and Ali's) were producing some better-than-decent sized fruits and decided to one-up them all.

Ladies and gentlemen of the panel I give you......

....the All Litten Up Monster Zucchini Contender!!!!  [round of applause please]

Thank you.  Thank you very much.  I couldn't have done it without much ignorance, neglect and a few days rain.   Thanks.

As gloriously large as it is, I have serious doubts as to its palatability (is that even a word?).  I think it may just find its way straight into the scrap bucket.  Pity.  It does look nice though.

  1. Perfect stuffing size. Halve lengthways, scoop out the middle, fill with stuffing (something with tomato, basil, chili, garlic topped with parmesan, or feta-cheesy with breadcrumbs and herbs maybe), then bake till soft but not collapsing. This early in the season anyway. In a few weeks I'll be saying chuck it to the chooks!

  2. Wow - that is one impressive zuke! Linda's idea sounds delicious - let us know if you do it, I'd love to see how it turns out.

  3. Okay ... you win!
Yes, the secret to growing giant zucchinis is definitely blissful ignorance. Stuffing them is a great way to utilise them, although I did have another, slightly smaller than the first that I just cut up and ate as normal, and it was still lovely. Be sure to let us know what you do with it.

  4. Thanks Linda - I've never stuffed a zucchini (though I don't think I've ever had one this big!)- I like the sound of the feta-herby idea..... :)
